Discipleship Committee

We are all called to be Disciples of Jesus Christ. We are all called to go out and spread the Good News!
People are encouraged to visit the elderly and shut-ins, help teach religious education, have bible study and prayer groups, participate in Catholic groups and so much more!

The Precepts of the Church are:
1. Attending Mass every Sunday and Holy Day of obligation.
2. Going to confession annually, if not more often or when needed.
3. Receiving Holy Communion during Easter. Receiving weekly or daily is encouraged, though.
4. Observing laws on fasting and abstinence: one full meal on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday; not eating meat on Fridays during Lent.
5. Obeying the marriage laws of the Church.
6. Supporting the Church financially and otherwise.

Catholics are basically required to live a Christian life, pray daily, participate in the sacraments, obey the moral law, and accept the teachings of Christ and his Church.
Knowing the faith is the first step and it entails catechesis, the process of discovering the faith and what is to be believed.
Accepting the faith is the second step and it entails trust. After knowing what the Church believes, we are asked TO believe the teachings.
Practicing the faith is the third step. Appreciating the wisdom and value of the Catholic rules and laws, we are asked to put that belief into action, to practice what we believe.
